Frequently Asked Questions

What type of lodging is provided?

Where possible we offer single occupancy rooms. In all cases, Finatical Flyfishing trips only operate in areas that are clean, safe and secure. Most of our locations will leave you feeling pampered, spoiled and rested -so you can return to ‘real life’ ready to do battle. Traditional flyfishing lodging is set up for double occupancy however we are striving to offer an equal price for single occupancy / shared boat accommodations.

Do I need to find my own roommate for the trip?

No! Many women come on their first Finatical Flyfishing trip solo -at least the first time. We’ll gladly match you with other ladies who are also coming solo. We generally rotate fishing partners each day so this gives you the chance to meet and get to know a larger number of women.

Do I have to be an expert?

No! We do our best to match ladies skill sets for pairings each day. We also ask you for input on what species or area (depending on the trip) you’d like to focus on each day. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced angler, we’ll do our best to give you a ‘trip of a lifetime’ experience.

Packing for the trip:

We’ll provide a detailed (recommended) packing list for every trip. If you are an expert you are welcome to bring whatever you are most comfortable with. That said, we’ll share recommendations on clothing, gear and everything in between. If it is an international trip, we’ll help with things like which electrical converters to buy. What flight times are best, local tours…..and everything else you might need.

Gear:

We’re happy to jump on the phone and chat about gear. When you sign up for a Finatical Flyfishing trip you will receive a detailed gear list specific to that trip. In many cases, we can help with rod rentals or loaners. Just ask us!

Guides:

We are VERY picky about the guides we hire or partner with or any Finatical Flyfishing trip. A guide can make or break a trip -end of story. Finatical Flyfishing was founded by partnering with guides and locations we fished before we took groups to those destinations. The guides we partner with make you feel comfortable, are great partners for advanced anglers or teachers for those looking to learn.

Do I need to be an expert?

Nope. If I (Steph) had waited until I knew ‘everything’ I never would have gone anywhere. We are all still learning. Flyfishing travel teaches you so much about flyfishing and life. Each trip you take will give you an opportunity to advance your flyfishing skillset, learn about the people you’ll meet, the culture…. Travel is the best teacher and those experiences teach you more about life than any classroom. Take the trip. Finatical Flyfishing trips are frequented by all levels of angler. We do our best to match those sharing a boat with their equals.
