2026 kicks off, a Casting for Recovery partnership and the last of summer openings.

Argentina Trip Report
2026 kicked off in Argentina, and we returned home with the deep satisfaction that only great fishing, new and old friendships, and unforgettable memories can bring. From fish in the net to the other stories we are still telling, there is far more to share than can fit into one newsletter—but here is a quick recap of an incredible adventure....

Eight ladies extended the trip to chase Golden Dorado under the Argentine sun near Corrientes. Every angler connected with Dorado and Pira Pita—on the surface. Yes, Pira Pita dry-fly style. Days began early, fishing hard until noon before breaking for a full lunch and a well-earned siesta. The midday pause offered relief from the heat and time to check in at home—or indulge in a nap! By 4:00 p.m., we were back on the water, fishing until dark and stacking up opportunities well beyond what most would consider a full day. Evenings ended tired and content, watching spectacular sunsets while listening to howler monkeys and cicadas that were louder than your boat mates.

From Corrientes, the group returned to Buenos Aires, where we were joined by a few more travelers for a wonderful evening of dining and city life before flying to Esquel the following day. As always, El Encuentro Lodge did not disappoint—and neither did this exceptional group of anglers. Those drawn to technical fishing spent time on the creeks, pulling impressive browns and rainbows from small waters. The largest fish was estimated at 27 inches -measured against what we had available at the time.

Our lodge in Esquel sat at the base of the Andes, just 15 miles from the Chilean border. The views—from the lodge itself and along the river flowing with crystal-clear water—were nothing short of spectacular. Evenings included a wine tasting, quiet walks through beautifully maintained vegetable and flower gardens, and happy hour overlooking the water. Fishing was excellent right out the back door on multiple sections of the Futaleufú. Nearby lakes produced large, challenging fish for those eager to explore, and the region also offers access to additional creeks and the Corcovado waters.

In previous years, Finatical Flyfishing  hosted a group at El Encuentro's Brook Trout Base Camp. We will be returning for a combo trip at the main lodge and Brook Trout Base Camp in 2027.   If you'd like to be on the list for a women's trip, couples trip or a custom trip for your family or group of friends, we'd love to share more info, pics and stories with you.

Casting for Recovery & Finatical Flyfishing

We are pleased to share that Finatical Flyfishing will be donating one spot on this year’s Green River trip to Casting for Recovery.

One fortunate woman who has graduated from a previous Casting for Recovery retreat will be selected to join eleven other women in Wyoming in June 2026. This opportunity is open exclusively to CfR alumni.

An email outlining the application process was sent to all Casting for Recovery alumni earlier this week. Finatical Flyfishing will work closely with the incredible CfR team to select the recipient and assist with all planning and logistical details for the trip.

We can all say flyfishing has enriched our lives and one of the best things that has come from Finatical Flyfishing is watching many friendships develop. It is those friendships we all cherish and they make all of the flyfishing experiences all the better. We are truly looking forward to sharing this experience with the selected participant, as well as the outstanding group already signed up for the Green River trip.

This opportunity would not be possible without your continued support. We will keep you updated as this journey unfolds and look forward to many great things ahead.

Teton & South Fork of the Snake
August 6-10, 2026  -Almost Full!

Set in the heart of Eastern Idaho, this is a prime launch point to fish two of the west’s most exceptional rivers: the Teton River and the South Fork of the Snake. Both offer breathtaking scenery and world-class flyfishing.

The Teton River is a stunning 81.5-mile tributary of the Henry’s Fork, and is home to rainbows, cutthroat, cutbows, and brook trout. Anglers will find a wide variety of water—from technical dry fly stretches to lively runs through dramatic canyons. During our August dates, you can expect PMD and terrestrial hatches. The Narrows often provide exciting hopper action, and certain sections of the Teton are also home to a unique mutant stonefly, creating unforgettable dry fly opportunities.

The South Fork of the Snake flows 66 miles from Palisades Reservoir to its confluence with the Henry’s Fork; the South Fork is big water set against the dramatic backdrop of southeast Idaho. It’s home to Yellowstone cutthroat, rainbow, and brown trout—and fish counts (according to Idaho Fish & Game) often range between 4,000–6,000 per mile depending on the section. Our chosen dates align with hatches of PMDs, Golden Stones, Tricos, and plenty of terrestrial action.

With such diversity, there’s something for every angler. We tailor each trip to match guests with like-minded anglers of similar skill and pair you with guides who’ll place you on the type of water you most want to explore. Single and double occupancy options are available. In the spirit of building more flyfishing friendships, this group will be slightly larger than normal. Plenty of water to spread out in the region and still share dinner and evenings with fellow Finatical Flyfishing ladies. Reach out for more details!

Alaska
July 19-25, 2026
1 Spot Left!

There are a few ladies looking at this last spot and whoever grabs it will join a wonderful group. Alaska is still one of those places where  you'll experience untouched wilderness, incredible flyfishing and the feeling of being small in a rugged and spectacular landscape. The Copper River Lodge  team goes the extra mile to share every component of this gift with us.   The Rainbow Trout fishing is everything you've dreamt about and the Sockeye runs are prolific. Nature is still in control with grizzlies dominating the landscape, plentiful wildlife watching and scenic and rugged mountain beauty.

This is a bucket list trip you shouldn't miss. Six days of flyfishing (including three to four fly-out days) and six nights at the lodge will ensure you see the true flavor of Alaska. After a long day on the water, there is nothing short of remarkable appetizers and dinner awaiting, while you sit overlooking the water. Stay up long enough to see the sun set and you'll likely see the bears in the distance out for an evening Salmon snack.
