New Trip, Wretched Mess Fest Booking Promo & Alaska Recap

New Trip Announcement:
Teton & South Fork Rivers
August 6-10, 2026

Set in the heart of Eastern Idaho, this is a prime launch point to fish two of the west’s most exceptional rivers: the Teton River and the South Fork of the Snake. Both offer breathtaking scenery and world-class flyfishing.  We will be nestled into a charming property set on the Teton River. Views from the deck are spectacular and include the tops of the Tetons peeking over into the Driggs, Idaho valley.

The Teton River

A stunning 81.5-mile tributary of the Henry’s Fork, the Teton is home to rainbows, cutthroat, cutbows, and brook trout. Anglers will find a wide variety of water—from technical dry fly stretches to lively runs through dramatic canyons. During our August dates, you can expect PMD and terrestrial hatches. The Narrows often provide exciting hopper action, and certain sections of the Teton are also home to a unique mutant stonefly, creating unforgettable dry fly opportunities. The South Fork of the Snake
Flowing 66 miles from Palisades Reservoir to its confluence with the Henry’s Fork, the South Fork is big water set against the dramatic backdrop of southeast Idaho. It’s home to yellowstone cutthroat, rainbow, and brown trout—and fish counts (according to Idaho Fish & Game) often range between 4,000–6,000 per mile depending on the section. Our chosen dates align with hatches of PMDs, Golden Stones, Tricos, and plenty of terrestrial action.

Enjoy four nights lodging, three days fishing, all meals and beer/wine with dinner. We can assist with shuttles to and from the Jackson Hole or Idaho Falls airports, and rods/reels if you need them. Pack light and join us in a beautiful setting to fish these exceptional waters.

Alaska Trip Report
Our group arrived in Anchorage the day before our charter flight, giving us time to enjoy one of the trails along the coastline and brunch together before our scheduled charter flight to Iliamna. Once in Iliamna, we took a float plane to the lodge.

Copper River Lodge itself shares stunning views and accommodations from the hillside along the Copper. Daily flyout options include the Moraine drainage, the Kijik, the Gibraltar, higher sections of the Copper River, lake fishing and many others. The days our ladies spent in the Moraine drainage provided some fun rainbow fishing on both spey and single-handed rods. Along the way, the boats averaged 30 bear sightings. This is still one of those rare places where nature is in control and humans partake in the summer season only by float planes and rafts.

The Copper River itself did not disappoint with many opportunities to fish for Salmon and the big rainbows Alaska is known for. Several ladies quickly put enough Salmon in the boat to bring home and share with family and friends. We moved on to targeting rainbows, but all of our days were filled with bears peeking in and out of the banks.

Returning to the lodge every evening, the food was amazing and a warm cozy fire in the lodge led to some great fish stories, card games and time to get to know our guides. Each individual cabin offered a breathtaking views of the river, a few nightly bear visits on the other side of the river and the late night sunsets.

Alaska is truly a special place and the team at Copper River lodge leaves little to be missed.
